The Client Wanted Access To A Roof Terrace Via A Sliding Rooflight, The Site Was Very Tight With No Possibility Of Using A Crane, We Provided Genuine First, A 'Manual' Sliding Rooflight, Normally Sliding Rooflights are Electric.

Easier Access To Roof Terrace to Utilise Roof Space More Fully

The Challenge

The homeowner wanted to gain greater access to their roof terrace than their Access Hatch offered them. They had a very tight space in which to make improvements plus restrictions which included the visibility of revisions from pavements. On top of this there was no way in which to use a crane, the normal method, to install a Sliding Rooflight.

The Solution

We worked directly with both the Architects practice and the homeowner, to make a bespoke solution that was exactly as initially visualised.

Our manual sliding rooflight, a first, as they are normally electric, was able to get around the need to use a crane. We supplied the manual sliding rooflight in sections and we expertly assembled this on site. The glass was split into two sections with a mullion support (a slender vertical division) which reduced the weight of individual items.
The rooflight itself was 2000mm (2.0m) x 1800mm (1.8m), and it used a solar control outer pane with a laminated inner pane. These features helped with thermal performance, safety and security.

With this innovative solution this meant our client could maximise their roof terrace where they could enjoy this space with family and friends.
